DESCRIPTION
An interactive 2 hour workshop on managing patient complaints based on real case scenarios presented by the Medical Insurance Group Australia (MIGA)
Patient feedback, positive or negative, provides an opportunity for the practice to improve its service. However complaints can be difficult to deal with and are often not handled well by doctors and their practice staff leading to unnecessary escalation of the complaint.
This workshop considers:
- What prompts a patient to complain
- The skills needed to resolve complaints quickly
- Utilising frontline staff to prevent and diffuse complaints
- How to deal with a formal complaint made to the Medical Board or a health complaints entity
- How to benefit from patient feedback.
Fellows who attend the workshop “The Complaining Patient” on Saturday, 19 November 2011, prior to the Congress would be eligible to claim an additional 2 CPD points under Risk Management and Clinical Governance Level 1
